Acute Prescriptions: These are medicines that are prescribed to you at the time of your consultation.
Repeat Prescriptions: These are medicines that are prescribed for those who require regular medication.
In order to maintain your repeat prescription you need to make the request in writing, as the practice does not accept requests over the telephone. Your repeat prescription will then be available within three working days of your written request.
Repeat Dispensing or otherwise called as Batch Prescriptions: Your repeat prescriptions are batched up together either on a monthly basis or on a three monthly basis. This is to avoid wastage. Depending upon the type of batch prescription given, you would have to get it from the same chemist either every month or every three months.
Those who pay for prescriptions are given on a three monthly batch to save your costs. The rest of the patients who do not pay are given on a monthly basis.
